Karen Barbara Williams
03/28/1949 – 03/09/2008
The greatest Wife, Mom, Second Mom, Maime, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Best Friend, & Confidant, passed away at home in the morning surrounded by family and close friends after a courageous fight with Colon Cancer. “I’m going to beat this’” she would always tell everyone. For a little over a year, she fought long and hard, with a smile on her face, never complaining. Karen is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Williams, of 36 loving years, 6 Children, Lori Smoley, Wendy Williams Helms, Jeremy, Benjamin, Mia Williams, and Sara Johnson. She opened her home and her heart as a second mom to over 22 children through out her lifetime. She relished being a “Maime” to 8 grandchildren.
Karen / Maime was a long time resident of Walnut Creek. She was known for her kind, loving, warm and generous nature. She always saw the good in people. She always had a smile on her face, even when she was enduring great pain. Her faith in Jehovah God brought her strength & comfort. Karen rested her hope on the promised future resurrection to an earthly paradise, knowing that one day she will see her family again.
Karen worked as a pharmacy technician for 15 years, starting at Gemco, then at Costco, San Ramon. After taking a semi retirement to care for her granddaughter Jordan Williams, she worked as a Program Director at Jenny Craig. Karen loved the theater and was a Producer for the Lesher Center for the Arts. As an accomplished writer, she had fun occasionally doing Book reviews; the last was for the Contra Costa Times on a Cuban cookbook. There are just so many passions she had, but by far was the passion she had for her family. She loved her family with all of her heart and was so proud of each and every one of them. She loved traveling especially to Hawaii where she found solace in paradise visiting family.
Karen had a profound impact on the lives of everyone she met to say that she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her is an understatement.
